Kids and teens in grades 6-12 join us for an evening of role playing games, board games, and more! We will meet at Riverside Branch from 4-7pm on the second Monday of each month January – May. Have a game you love to play? Bring it along and share it with us. You do not need to register, just drop in! May 8th will be our last game night. 

In 1869, the J. & E. Stevens Company of Cromwell Connecticut began making iron banks that performed an action when coins were deposited into them. Mechanical banks quickly became popular with both children and adults throughout America and beyond. Today, mechanical toy banks are highly collectable and sell for thousands of dollars at auctions.

Join Richard Franklin Donohue, historian for the town of Cromwell, as he demonstrates his collection of mechanical banks and explains their history. This presentation consists of a power point slide show and an interactive demonstration of twenty different banks!

Move and read with Create Power Yoga at the Weaver Library. 

The Storytime Yoga series, geared to walkers through kindergarten, is a combination of movement and reading! We invite adults and kids to this class to read and move together. Yoga poses and ideas are learned through the stories we read together. We also explore storytelling by other means – acting, dancing, and music. Please bring your own mat.

On April 12, a farm educator from Casey Farm set up an incubator, with 12 (do we have 12??) Rhody Red and Dominique eggs, in the children’s room at Weaver Library. The chicks are expected to hatch after 21 days, on Wednesday, May 3.  We will keep the chicks in a coop at Weaver through May 11. All are invited to come in and see them during that time. The chicks will go back to Casey Farm on May 12.

Daniel the Cocker Spaniel is back!  Kids are invited to read to our furry friend Danny in the Children’s Room at Weaver on Monday,  May 15th, 5-7pm.

Listening to kids read is one of Danny’s favorite activities! Parents, bring your child for stress-free reading practice.

Studies have found that reading aloud to dogs improved children’s attitudes toward books and increased their confidence. Dogs, relaxed and nonjudgmental, seem to help even struggling readers enjoy a book.

For over 58 years, Ritchee Price has been delighting crowds all over the world with his signature trumpet performances. Earning a BA in Music Performance from the Berklee College of Music, Ritchee is also an accomplished Flugelhorn player, music arranger, and vocalist.

This concert will consist of Ritchee on the trumpet and a friend on piano.

Build a little house for a garden fairy! Take it home for the fairy there, or add it to the fairy neighborhood in Fuller’s raised beds. Use natural materials, faux flowers, and more. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring anything you’d like to include. Ages 5+

This program is geared towards children 3-5 years old and focuses on humane education.  Topics discussed include kindness and empathy towards animals, as well as how you can help homeless pets in your community! A special shelter pet will join the guest reader and a fun craft will be provided after the story! There will also be a donation basket available if you wish to donate any of the following items for sheltered animals at the RISPCA:

Dogs: Fleece blankets, leashes, dog treats, bully sticks, kongs, nylabones, XL puppy pads.      Cats:  Canned cat food (pate), wand toys, small beds, cardboard scratchers
