Girls in Grades 6-12 may register for this 4-week, in-person series to explore coding. Girls Who Code is a non-profit organization dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology. The curriculum helps girls learn coding using simple online tutorials, build community through interactive activities, and learn about inspiring role models each week. Come code with us! We recommend bringing your own laptop computer, otherwise one will be provided for you. Tablets and mobile devices are not recommended for the tutorials. Weaver Library will offer an outdoor Introductory Yoga Class by Instructor Joan LaMontagne. With 23 years in the medical profession, Joan trained under Devarshi Steven Hartman in a Kripalu based style yoga. Allowing movement within poses makes this style accessible to all levels of yoga students. Joan also incorporates breathing techniques, meditation and restorative poses in the Yin style to make the 45-minute classes both stimulating and relaxing for all. Grab some paper and a pencil (or a pen, or crayons, etc) and connect with other kids who like to draw. Miss Harriet will draw with you. She might also introduce you to a few book illustrators, and challenge you to some silly doodles.

Many members of the East Providence community have expressed how much they miss coming to the library and seeing everyone. Well, we miss you too! Every Wednesday in July at 9:00am, let’s make the time for us to all see each other, chat, and enjoy each other’s company via Zoom. The Fuller staff will be there each week with other rotating library staff members throughout the month. Coffee encouraged but not required. Those who register will receive the invitation link prior to the event. You do not need a Zoom account to sign up and attend. Click here to register.

Julian Saad, a 3rd year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at URI, offers an Introduction to Sheng Zhen, a meditation practice that can be performed in motion and in stillness. With regular practice, Sheng Zhen movements strengthen the body, calm the mind, and open the heart to a renewed sense of joy, a deeper understanding of life, and more compassion for oneself and others.
