3:30 pm-4:30 pm Monday, January 4, 2021  Learn a few basic camera pointers and spend time practicing your photography skills in this 3-week series! Children ages 7+ may use a camera phone, iPad, tablet, or a standard camera. Each week we will start with some tips on photography and then give a prompt in which children must try to capture with their camera over the course of the week until we share with each other at the following meeting. | 7 - Teen Community Service New Year’s Mural Making on Zoom

East Providence teens in grades 9-12 who would like to earn community service hours are invited to help us make a mural of New Year’s wishes for 2021 that will be displayed at Weaver Library! Kits will be provided for you to pick up at the library and include one poster board, one sheet of card stock, a packet of cut snowflakes, a glue stick, and a package of markers.You can also use any of your own art supplies. The only things you must include in your creation are some of the snowflakes we provide in the kit and your written wish for 2021! Each student who creates a piece to contribute will earn two service hours once their submission is approved. Kits will be available to pick up at Weaver Library from December 23rd, 2020- January 7th, 2021 while supplies last.
This event is open to those who have picked up a mural kit at Weaver Library. You do not need to come to the Zoom meeting if you want to work on your kit independently, but those who attend will earn an additional service hour for joining us and working on your project during the meeting. A vision board is a tool to clarify and maintain focus on what truly matters to you. During week 1, you’ll use guiding questions to think about your goals for various aspects of life and decide what type of board you’ll make. In week 2, you’ll photographs, images, quotes, and more, you’ll create a collage that represents your ideas and dreams for the future. The display then serves as a visual reminder to motivate you to work toward your goals. Register by completing the form below. Join the RIDEM Wildlife Outreach Team for an interactive virtual program to learn about them! Furbearers are often misunderstood and feared, but they are important members of the ecosystem. You’ll learn about some of the exciting research being done right here in RI to find out more about these secretive critters, and how to safely coexist with them. She will use different techniques such as mindfulness, loving-kindness, creative visualizations, and affirmations to cultivate self love, self worth, confidence, compassion, focus, concentration, stress, anxiety relief, and help with navigating difficult emotions and change. 3:30 pm-4:30 pm Thursday, January 28, 2021  This cute bear wants to hang in your room and keep you company! Pick up this craft kit any time at Weaver Library starting Monday, January 25th. Make it on your own or join our ZOOM meeting on Thursday, January 28th at 3:30 pm to make it along with Miss Sharon and other kids! (The ZOOM information will be included with the craft.) You will need markers or crayons and glue. No registration required but supplies are limited. First come, first served.

3:30 pm-4:30 pm Friday, January 29, 2021  Quick breads are a fun and easy way to learn about baking. During this 3-week series, we’ll discover what a quick bread is, learn tips, and practice techniques for baking muffins, biscuits and more. Join us virtually from your own kitchen to bake along with other kids. Ages 7+. Participants will receive ingredient lists and a Zoom link prior to the program.
