  • Introduction to Sheng Zhen Meditation: 2nd in the 6-Week Series on the Weaver Library Lawn

    Julian Saad, a 3rd year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology PhD program at URI, offers an Introduction to Sheng Zhen, a meditation practice that can be performed in motion and in stillness. With regular practice, Sheng Zhen movements strengthen the body, calm the mind, and open the heart to a renewed sense of joy, a deeper understanding of life, and more compassion for oneself and others. The 6-week Friday morning series is free and open to adults but registration is required.  To reserve your space, email eplibraryjoyce@yahoo.com. In this weekly series, we’ll meet virtually to share our adventures and learn about common birds, plants, pond life, rocks, minerals and more!   • Sport Stacking/Cup Stacking

    Sport Stacking is an amazing sport that involves stacking plastic cups in specific sequences as fast as you can! It promotes fitness, agility, concentration, and quickness! PE teacher Glenn Costello teaches this interactive class. Wed. July 8, 11am on the Weaver Library Lawn. (Weather permitting.) For ages 8-10.     This VIRTUAL event with MobileQuest is open to kids and teens ages 10+ and will challenge participants to create an escape plan in a fun Zoom program! A supply kit will be provided for participants to pick up at Weaver Library before the program. Register below and we will contact you to schedule a pickup time for your kit! Registration for this program is open until Monday, July 13th at 5pm. We will notify you when the kits are available at Weaver Library. Kits must be picked up no later than Tuesday, July 14th.

  • Free Paper Shredding Event for East Providence Residents

    The East Providence Public Library and The Department of Public Works are proud to work together to offer a free paper shredding event in the side parking lot of the Weaver Library located at 41 Grove Avenue. 

    East Providence residents may bring up to two file boxes or two paper market type bags of sensitive documents to shred.  There is no need to remove paper clips or staples and papers (no magazines or newspapers) will be shredded on site.   Please note that this event is open to East Providence residents only and capacity is limited, thus, no businesses. The event will close when the shredding truck is full.

    Social distancing guidelines will be followed. Please wear your mask!
